Walking! Blackberries! Does menopause delay healing?
I was disappointed by my ankle swelling up after my brief run yesterday, so just a walk today. Found a ripe blackberry bush, wow, the taste of these were amazing. I’ll be back to pick some for the first blackberry crumble of the season. I wondered if menopause delays muscle injury, and yes it appears so. The little research there is out there shows that reduced oestrogen has an effect on how quickly your muscles repair. The less oestrogen, the slower the healing process therefore. Lots of think about. I wondered if rubbing oestrogen gel into a muscle would do anything (NOT RECOMMENDED!) and the answer is NO! I’ll stick to taking magnesium, Vitamin D and omega 3 oils and keep on with my strength and conditioning which I know have all helped make me feel fitter and stronger.
